December 12, 2025

Cybersecurity often feels technical and overwhelming, but staying safe is less about understanding computers and more about understanding human behavior. This presentation, created in partnership with Verizon, cuts through the jargon to provide a practical, non-technical guide designed to defend against scams. Trainers include James Borg of LSNJ and Christopher Peacock of Verizon.

James Borg, Chief Technology Officer, Legal Services of New Jersey

James has worked with LSNJ since 1998. With more than 25 years of experience supporting technology in a statewide nonprofit legal aid environment, he specializes in practical cybersecurity, user education, and secure technology operations. James plays a key role in LSNJ’s cybersecurity initiatives, including staff training, secure communication systems, and protection of sensitive client information.

Christopher Peacock, Distinguished Engineer, Verizon

A cybersecurity expert and distinguished engineer at Verizon, Chris is recognized internationally for his work on threat detection and cyber threat intelligence frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK. He frequently presents and teaches at leading security conferences. His previous work experience includes jobs at Raytheon Intelligence & Space and General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems.

Legal Services of New Jersey (LSNJ) is committed to ensuring that educational events reflect our mission to achieve access to justice for low-income New Jerseyans. To enhance these programs, LSNJ may invite external presenters who bring valuable expertise, perspectives, and experiences relevant to our work and client community. While every effort is made to invite presenters who share LSNJ’s core values and commitment to justice, the opinions and ideas expressed by external presenters are their own and do not necessarily represent the views, policies, or positions of LSNJ.
