Priorities
Due to limited funding, LSNWJ is not able to represent all the low-income people in Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren counties with all of their legal needs. As a result, LSNWJ must establish priorities. Each year, LSNWJ seeks input from the low-income community, service providers, the courts and the legal community in order to assist us in setting our priorities for the next year. The 2008 priorities, stated in intended outcomes are:
Long-term outcome:
- Client achieved and protected essential needs (e.g., income, shelter, family relationships, personal safety, health, food, education, employment).
Intermediate outcomes:
- Client acted to remove obstacles to achieving essential needs and act to protect essential needs.
- Client obtained access to the justice system, are granted equal protection and due process, and obtain the intended benefit of law.
Short-term outcomes:
- Client learned what to do or not do to solve his or her legal problems.
- Client gained knowledge of his or her legal rights and responsibilities.
- Client gained knowledge of how the legal system works.
- Client was empowered to make informed decisions.
