Legal Services of Northwest Jersey

Priorities

Due to limited funding, LSNWJ is not able to represent all the low-income people in Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren counties with all of their legal needs. As a result, LSNWJ must establish priorities. Each year, LSNWJ seeks input from the low-income community, service providers, the courts and the legal community in order to assist us in setting our priorities for the next year. The 2010 priorities, stated in intended outcomes are:

  • Clients receiving legal advice learn what to do or not do to solve their legal problem.

  • Clients receiving non-litigation services and litigation services take action to remove obstacles and protect essential needs.

  • Clients receiving extended services will obtain and preserve essential needs (shelter and housing, income and assets for self-sufficiency, family relationships, personal safety, education, employment, health care, autonomy).
